Grundfos showcased its innovative and energy efficient SCALA2 solution at the third Arab Ministerial Forum on Housing and Urban Development 2019 as the ‘Water and Climate Change’ partner.

With its state-of-the-art sensors and variable frequency drive, SCALA2 not only offers comfort to residents by providing constant water pressure in all taps at all times, it can also potentially reduce energy consumption by 80 percent.

The event is held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai,  from 7th to 8th October, 2019 and is hosted by the Ministry of Infrastructure Development and the Sheikh Zayed Housing Programme, in collaboration with the Council of Arab Ministers of Housing and Reconstruction from the Arab League and the Regional Bureau for Arab States of the United Nations Organisation for Human Settlements, UN-Habitat.

Grundfos’s SCALA2 pump used at the SEWA (Sharjah Electricity & Water Authority) head office, where it replaced older units, generated energy savings of 80 percent annually with a payback of 1.3 years.  .

Grundfos’ SCALA2 solution is a breakthrough development for residential water supply and pressure boosting, and will be used in new project villas, expected to be ready by 2021. The pressure booster utilises advanced technology and integrated design to provide constant water pressure throughout the home, regardless of the number of outlets open. Using up to 80 percent less energy than conventional systems, its advanced technology also detects hidden leaks early, preventing massive potential waste. Unlike other pumps which run on full speed at all times, SCALA2 adjusts its flow according to the demand, ensuring the most optimal use of energy based on demand.

Kostas Poulopoulos, Grundfos Managing Director for Gulf, Levant & Pakistan said:” We are proud to be the “Water and Climate Change” partner for the third Arab Ministerial Forum on Housing and Urban Development. For Grundfos, sustainability is a mind-set, a way to do business. It is core to our strategic approach – in the region and beyond. To be able to achieve a low carbon and socially inclusive future, we have charted our path towards UN’s Sustainability Development Goals, and this forum is aligned with our approach. “
