His excellency Dr. Salim Al Kaabi, Director General of Tadweer, said: “The civic amenities for recyclable material articulate Tadweer’s priority to provide safe and environmentally-friendly facilities to manage waste, especially in residential communities and neighborhoods due to their positive impact on the economy and environment of In addition to streamlining the process of collecting and segregating waste, these facilities help us reduce the cost of waste management by promoting waste segregation at source and deploying the latest international technologies in integrated waste management . “

Al Kaabi added: “Our drive to set up these innovative facilities goes a long way in promoting the culture of waste segregation and creating a healthy and sustainable environment in the emirate, while preserving the cleanliness and aesthetic appeal of Abu Dhabi through preventing random waste dumping . In allocating dedicated bins for the collection of different types of materials, the civic amenities act as mini waste segregation plants, enabling the public to segregate waste at source and support our continued efforts to minimize waste sent to landfills . “

Al Kaabi also revealed Tadweer is currently installing new civic amenities in vital areas of Abu Dhabi and Al Ain. With ability to handle 12 different types of waste, the Center has set up 8 new amenities this month including 7 in Al Ain.

Civic amenities for recyclable waste support Tadweer’s efforts to promote sustainability and elevate awareness about the importance of waste segregation at source among different segments of society. As an effective way to minimize waste production, waste segregation at source translates into a positive impact on the environment .

Incorporating high specifications and sustainability standards, civic amenities run on renewable energy generated by solar panels, and use high-performance energy-saving lamps .

They blend attractive design and ease of use to encourage public to use these facilities in waste segregation in a proper and civilized manner. This supports Tadweer’s efforts to optimize the economic value of wastes by turning them into useful materials.
